Plant Medicine / Ibogaine

The Secundum Vitae Program uses a very little known plant medicine in Phase II as a catalyst to accelerate the progress of the individual in Phase III of the Program. The primary use of the plant medicine is not only to interrupt physical and behavioral addictions but more so to be an aide in personal and spiritual development. Our experience has shown us that when the plant medicine treatment is combined with other treatment modalities such as behavioral modification, meditation, improved nutrition, yoga, body awareness, etc. the results exceed all expectations.

What is the plant medicine and what is it called?

Ibogaine PlantIbogaine is a catalyst for change, operating both biologically and psychotherapeutically. Ibogaine Therapy combined with our unique treatment program yields results nothing less than a miracle.
Biologically, Ibogaine is active in several areas of the brain causing profound personality change. Ibogaine also increases harmonious communication between the two hemispheres of the brain.
Furthermore, Ibogaine helps to regenerate brain neurotransmitter function, and produce an effect that mimics fetal REM sleep, allowing the patient to feel reset, refreshed, and recharged.

Ibogaine is a genuine drug-craving suppressor as well as a tool for ending any form of obsessive behaviors. Ibogaine is metabolized in the liver and gut lining into Noribogaine which stays in the body and continues to act in the opiate (and other) receptors associated with drug use and out of control behaviors. It is this metabolized version of Ibogaine that is believed to enable the user to have a reduction of drug craving, addiction craving or obsessive behaviors for a period of time lasting from several weeks to several months. In combination with the rest of the Secundum Vitae Program, it resets the brain to a period before the behavior patterns started. This explains Ibogaine's long lasting, anti-addictive properties and explains why it does not lend towards abuse. Noribogaine also has transitory anti-depressant properties.
Ibogaine is the only available drug that can interrupt an opiate, or other drug addiction without causing harsh withdrawal symptoms. Ibogaine’s metabolite, Noribogaine, is an opiate agonist and is non-addictive.
When someone is physically addicted to opiates, such as Vicodin, Oxycontin, Heroin, Methadone, or psychological behavior patterns, their central nervous system is adjusted to having these specific receptors filled. The withdrawal syndrome starts when the addicted person stops taking opiates abruptly and the receptors begin to empty. Noribogaine fits into the opiate receptors, replacing the narcotics or specific peptides of the entrenched behavioral patterns. There is no withdrawal from Noribogaine. Ibogaine therapy allows a drug addict or destructive behavior dependant person to enter into sobriety without full blown withdrawal symptoms and with a greater sense of dignity and hope.
The visual effects of Ibogaine can be incredibly insightful for some patients. The drug acts on the users long-term memory cells, and often allows the patient to gain insights into or about the underlying causes of their addiction. One Ibogaine treatment may be equal to years of psychotherapy because Ibogaine ingestion frequently helps to unearth information from the subconscious and super conscious mind of the patient, and bring it into the conscious and visual realm. Here it can be used for motivation to change ones addictive or self defeating patterns. Due to the unique detachment that Ibogaine usually affords the patient, this information upheaval often happens without the emotional pain normally associated with re-experiencing repressed or suppressed memories. In the weeks following the Ibogaine journey, people are given an opportunity to process this information in a safe and supportive environment and to reprogram themselves in order to eliminate destructive behaviors. Ibogaine is an excellent catalyst for change irrespective of whether or not the visual portion of the Ibogaine experience seems valuable to the patient at the time.
Ibogaine is a potent addiction and behavior interrupter that offers people a chance to reclaim their lives. The Ibogaine treatment is the most humane and effective way to detoxify a person from destructive behavioral patterns or physical dependence. The Center mainly treats people with lack of purpose and connection, life crisis, the debilitating effects of trauma (accident trauma, childhood trauma or other), physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, eating disorders, bulimia, overeating, binge eating, anorexia, depression, bipolar, obsessive - compulsive disorders, behavioral problems / addictions, and substance abuse / addictions.
We encourage you to do your own research about Ibogaine on the internet, go to Ibogaine.org or do a search on Ibogaine.

History of the Plant Medicine

The plant medicine originates from the root bark of the Tabernathe Iboga (TI) shrub found in Western Africa. It has been used for centuries by tribes as a spiritual initiation ceremony into adulthood as well as for the curing of physical ailments. In 1962, one of the benefits of the plant medicine as a drug addiction interruption tool was accidentally discovered by a heroin addict from New York. Expecting a recreational drug trip, he instead discovered an extraordinary result. To his surprise, after the experience, his physical desire for heroin had disappeared and he did not experience any withdrawal symptoms. The use of TI for treating drug addictions in 1985 was patented and there were campaigns between 1982 and 1994 to obtain FDA approval for this use. This campaign included initiating research agreements with academic institutions in Canada, Europe, the United States and Central America as well as the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The use of the plant is illegal in four countries. In spite of severe financial obstacles for researchers in this area, TI continues to be the focus of continued research and experimental treatment in both animals and humans. At Monte Vista, our goal is to provide this plant medicine as a catalyst for change not only for certain additions, but mainly for psychological and spiritual changes as well. Currently, there are only four clinics in the world that use this plant medicine therapy. Its use in these clinics is for treating drug addictions. These clinics do not usually follow up the treatment with counseling and therapy and focus the plant medicine only as a drug interruption tool.
